Note, 10/8/19: If you haven’t yet arranged for a room, you might contact the contact persons at both hotels (see below) to see if they might still be able to offer you the special rate, or a special rate. Just a suggestion in the event you’re still looking for accommodation. ~Maureen
The hotel options in NYC are literally endless and you are free, and we encourage you, to shop around to see what you might find at decent rates. In extremely close proximity to The Roosevelt House and Hunter College are upwards of 20 or more hotel options. So please look around. And, there are other options like Airbnb or some lower-cost hostels not far from the venue (Jazz on Columbus Circle, The International Student and Youth Hostel, etc.).
And, consider these options at which we have arranged special rates. We put together a courtesy block of rooms at one Manhattan hotel (more expensive) and one outside Manhattan, just across the Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge in Queens in the Long Island City neighborhood. Having spent a few months working on hotel options, these were the best rates we could arrange for in nice hotels where you would be comfortable staying.

Deadline: Oct. 5th, 2019 for rates of $288, $308 or $368 per night. Right now we have a block of only 10 rooms reserved but the hotel says they can add more if needed and if booked before the deadline.
Travel to the conference venue from this hotel is simple: Take the 6 train at 59th and Lexington one stop to Hunter College at 68th Street and walk back down to 65th Street; turn right on 65th Street (toward the park) and find the Roosevelt House between Park and Madison, on your right. You may also easily walk from the hotel to the venue: walk up Lexington Ave from 57th Street to 65th Street. Turn left on 65th Street (toward the park) and find the Roosevelt House at 65th Street between Park and Madison, on the right. And, consult the hotel concierge or contact Jacalyn for help needed with travel, etc.
*Note: there is another Fitzpatrick hotel, the Fitzpatrick Grand Central; our special rate is only at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan on Lexington Ave.

Long Island City is a bustling neighborhood in Queens that abuts Manhattan at the Upper East Side, where the conference venue is located. Travel to the Roosevelt House from Long Island City is a short train or bus ride, or you may use a car service like Uber, Lyft or Juno or just catch a yellow cab. (There may be a new ferry service option if you’re looking for that experience, ask at the hotel.) For commuting, see this page on their site with helpful advice: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/ispfp-four-points-cong-island-city-queensboro-bridge/ This hotel is only one train stop from the venue: take the N Train from the Queensboro Plaza station (near the hotel) to the Lexington Ave/59th St. station then walk up six blocks to 65th Street and turn left. That journey is mapped here: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Queensboro+Plaza+Station,+Queens,+NY+11101/47-49+E+65th+St,+New+York,+NY+10065/@40.7587242,-73.9631023,15z/am=t/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x89c258d5bbebcdab:0xaa0bddaf05038236!2m2!1d-73.9398986!2d40.7505206!1m5!1m1!1s0x89c258ee8f8a7e6d:0x6d4c3ce2bdfc5bbe!2m2!1d-73.9676792!2d40.7671206!3e3
And, consult the hotel concierge or contact Jean for any help needed with travel, etc.
…We are suggesting that delegates not delay and book their hotel rooms as soon as possible. This is in part because the NYC marathon is to take place on Sunday Nov. 3rd — the day following our event (always fun to see if you stay over!) – and hotels across the city are booking up fast for the weekend.
